Human Research Ethics Resources

The TCPS 2 was updated in 2018 and released on August 15, 2019. You can access the current Tri-Council Policy Statement on Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans online here.

Highlights of the changes can be found here.

It is highly recommended that you complete the Tri-Council Course on Research Ethics (CORE) tutorial before filling out an HREB application.

You can find the Tri-Council statement on the responsible conduct of research here.

On-line survey providers, such as Survey Monkey when accessed through personal accounts, that have their servers located in the US are subject to the USA Freedom Act. If you choose to use one of these providers, you must inform your research participants that their responses are being stored on US servers and are subject to the USA Freedom Act.

We recommend that you use a provider that houses its data on servers in Canada. Faculty may access Survey Monkey through Trinity's institutional account, which houses its data in Canada.
